“Desveladas” / Installation
“Desveladas” (“Unveiled”) is an installation composed of blown glass bottles, shelves, and natural leather dyed with plant-based aniline. This installation is part of a project focused on stories and contexts of informal labor and migration in Latin America, expanded to a global perspective where materiality becomes a medium for storytelling.
The bottles were made at Rero Glass using the mold of a plastic bottle from a Peruvian energy drink called “Volt”. Due to its low cost and widespread availability on the streets, this drink is popular among the working class seeking to boost productivity. The installation reflects themes of over-productivity and stress, with the bottles transformed into fragile glass, held by cold structures, supported only by skin with no body.
